Just a thought to help start your week.

This deer stood quietly in our front yard one day a few summers ago.  She was very aware of her surroundings, but stopping to lick and groom herself while waiting for a deer friend (ha!) who stood not far behind her.  I’m no hunter, but I love to watch the deer.  Their calm gracefulness is a beauty to behold.

God’s creations are amazing.  The trees and plants and nature all around us are incredible.  The living, breathing animals and creatures are intricately made and cared for.  Wait.  I’m one of those creatures.  I’m intricately made.  I’m cared for.  I’m incredible.  I’m amazing.  And perhaps, in some strange way, I’m complete with calm gracefulness.

We can say all those things, because a creation is a direct reflection of its creator.  We, as God’s creations, are a direct reflection of the Creator!  I wasn’t just watching a deer in my front yard that afternoon.  I was watching God at work!  When is the last time you stopped to watch the Creator at work in your life or in the lives of those around you?  He’s always at work, never taking a day off.

“Be still and know that I am God,” He reminds us.  “Be still, my child.  Shhhhh.  Watch.  Listen.  Be still.”
